On Saturday 1st March 2008, Here and Now opened to the public at 41a Killigrew Street, Falmouth.
The new venture, is an offshoot of Bristol's Here Gallery, an award winning business with a reputation for stocking unusual small press books, comics and 'zines, alongside artist made jewellery, soft toys, prints and more. They have hosted exhibitions from established names such as Mark Pawson and Jon Burgerman, as well as showing new work by local students and artists from abroad. Their independent approach to retail has earned Here Gallery national press attention from Time Out, Dazed and Confused, and The Sunday Times.
“We are extremely pleased to be opening this new shop, which will offer wide range of inspirational art related goods" explained Kate O'Leary, who will operate and manage the business. "As well as providing a welcoming atmosphere, and a meeting place for like minded individuals, Here and Now will showcase new artwork, from local students and established artists."
“It's an exciting step for us. Several of the artists we have worked with in Bristol, are graduates from Falmouth, and having a base here will give us the opportunity to connect directly with the latest talent to emerge from the College of Arts” said business partner Ben O'Leary.
